Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly in talks to sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov, a 21-year-old player valued at £60 million, according to a recent source. Sudakov has been compared to Manchester City’s Phil Foden, and his impressive stats have caught the attention of top clubs, including Chelsea and Arsenal.

During Ange Postecoglou’s first season as manager, Tottenham showed signs of improvement, finishing fifth in the Premier League. Now, the Australian manager and his team executives are preparing for the upcoming summer transfer window, and it seems they have already identified their top target.

Sudakov is a two-footed playmaker who can play as a number 10, number 8, or left midfielder, and his performances last season were impressive, scoring 10 goals and providing 6 assists. According to FBref, he ranks in the top 14% for non-penalty xG and top 20% for progressive carries among his positional counterparts in the big five leagues. Additionally, he is in the top 23% for actions that create shots, showcasing his excellent playmaking abilities.

Napoli had previously made a £34 million offer for Sudakov during the winter transfer window, but it’s unlikely that Shakhtar Donetsk will accept a deal before the Euros, when his value may increase. Tottenham seems to have gotten a head start in negotiations, and it remains to be seen if they can secure the signing of this talented young player.
