Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness believes the club is well-positioned to secure a permanent deal for Leeds United’s Jack Harrison, who spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Goodison Park.
Wyness, now a football consultant, shared his insights on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.
Harrison, who has made it clear he wants to stay at Everton, impressed during his loan spell, starting 31 of 35 appearances, scoring three goals, and providing four assists. His contributions helped Everton maintain their Premier League status under Sean Dyche.
Wyness believes Leeds United, who missed out on promotion to the Premier League, will need to act quickly to offload players like Harrison, who is under contract until June 2028.
“Leeds will have to do a lot of pruning, even with the parachute payments coming in,” Wyness said. “Harrison will be one of those players who has to go.”
With Harrison keen to stay at Everton, Wyness thinks a deal is likely, which would be a significant coup for the Merseyside club. Leeds United’s loss could be Everton’s gain, as they look to build on their Premier League survival and potentially strike a new deal for the talented winger.
