Tottenham Hotspur are expected to make a bid for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who is valued at £50 million, according to reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Manager Ange Postecoglou is a big fan of Gallagher and has identified him as a key summer signing priority. With the futures of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso uncertain, Spurs are in need of a new midfielder, and Gallagher fits the bill.
Gallagher, 24, has been a mainstay of Chelsea’s starting lineup, impressing with his work rate, touch, and goal-scoring ability. He has been linked with a move to Tottenham since last year, and with his contract situation and Chelsea’s need to balance their books, a sale is likely.
While Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid are also interested, Spurs are expected to make a bid, although they may need to meet Chelsea’s £50 million valuation.
Postecoglou has been a long-time admirer of Gallagher, and with Hojbjerg and Lo Celso potentially leaving, he needs to bring in a replacement.
Atalanta’s Ederson has also been monitored, but Gallagher remains the top target. With his contract situation and Chelsea’s need to sell, Spurs may be able to secure a deal, although they will need to meet the £50 million asking price.
