Phil Hay, a renowned journalist, has revealed that Stuart Dallas, the beloved Leeds United player, has held discussions with the club to explore potential opportunities beyond his playing career.
Dallas, 33, announced his retirement due to a long-standing knee injury, which has kept him sidelined for over two years. Despite numerous surgeries and rehabilitation efforts, the Northern Irishman was unable to overcome the injury sustained in a collision with Jack Grealish.
Dallas’s retirement marks the end of a remarkable nine-year stint at Leeds United, during which he made 266 appearances and played a crucial role in the team’s promotion to the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa. He was also named Player of the Season in the club’s first year back in the top flight.
According to Hay, Dallas may remain at Elland Road in a different capacity, with conversations already taking place between the club and the player.
While it is unclear if Dallas has obtained coaching badges, it is likely that he has considered a career in coaching during his time on the sidelines.
Hay expressed his interest in Dallas’s next move, stating, “Obviously, Dallas has retired. Really interested to see what he does, if he goes into coaching. There was a bit of a conversation with Leeds as to what could be next with him. I expect he takes time to take stock.”
Leeds United’s coaching setup already boasts big names like Aaron Lennon and Stewart Downing, who have recently taken on coaching roles. If Dallas is keen to join the coaching staff, the club is likely to find a place for him, given his dedication and contributions to the team over the years.
