Everton are making some early moves in the summer window as they look to make a big impression this year from the start.
The Toffees are dealing with PSR issues as well as new owners, but are making quick moves to try and right the ship before the window really kicks off.
Everton have completed a deal to sign Aston Villa youngster Tim Iroegbunam, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin could also be on his way to Newcastle.
And Everton now want to use the potential cash from the sale of Calvert-Lewin to further strengthen their squad.
This time with a player that Arne Slot reportedly wants at Liverpool.
Everton want to sign Yankubo Minteh
According to Sky Sports, the Toffees now want to use their relationship with Newcastle for the Calvert-Lewin deal to sign Minteh.
The young winger had a fantastic season at Feyenoord last year and was linked with Arne Slot to Liverpool in the summer.
However, it is Everton who want to sign him.
All of these deals, with Everton, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Chelsea doing business with each other, point to ways to resolve PSR’s problems ahead of June 30.
Minteh encouraged Everton
Everton have already decided to bring back Jack Harrison this summer, giving them a wide man with blistering pace.
But the addition of Minteh only gives them more pace out wide and if he can repeat what he did in Holland, Everton will have a top player on their hands.
Hailed as a player who can be “extremely dangerous” on his day, Minteh is still only 19 but will feel he deserves a chance in England after an excellent season in the Eredivisie.
We will see how it will all unfold.
But it is clear that Everton are moving early and there must be a lot of confidence behind the scenes that a takeover will happen soon.
