The former Aston Villa man could join one of West Brom’s Championship rivals

Former Aston Villa, Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur player Alan Hutton claims Leeds United are looking at taking Coventry City ace Callum O’Hara to Elland Road this summer amid the Sky Blues’ deal to sign Jack Rudoni from Huddersfield Town.

Rudoni, who is in the same position as O’Hare, agreed a four-year deal with Coventry on Thursday, with wages expected to be around £5m. At that price, he could be seen as an early replacement for O’Hare, who has been linked with a move to Elland Road this summer.

“We are delighted to welcome Jack to Coventry City. He is a talented player with excellent technical ability who is adept at winning the ball, leading teams forward and creating chances,” said City boss Mark Robins.

“Jack is a young player who we are sure will be popular with our fans. We look forward to welcoming him to the club and that he will continue his development with us.”

Rudoni added: “I’m very happy. As soon as I heard about the interest, I was excited. I spoke to the manager and his staff and I got a great atmosphere and a sense of momentum from everyone here, and that’s it. It suits me very good and I am very happy to be here.

“I knew there was interest a while ago, but this summer the interest seems to have grown. “It was clear to see as soon as I started talking to the club that this is the place where I can take my career forward. I can’t wait to get started.”

O’Hare made 31 appearances in the final season of the Championship, scoring six goals and providing three assists. In total, he played 182 times for the Sky Blues with 22 goals and 30 assists, and Hutton believes O’Hare would be a suitable addition at Leeds. He is available on a free transfer as his contract at the CBS Arena expires at the end of his month, giving the Whites the chance to make a bargain move as they look to remain compliant with profit and sustainability regulations.

“He fits what Leeds like, he’s an exciting player,” Hutton told Football Insider. “Especially if they are going to lose someone like [Crysencio] Summerville or [Georginio] Rutter, who could leave this summer as well.

“They’re going to have to bring someone in to replace those guys. I know Callum O’Hare well, I played with him when I was at Villa. He’s very technically gifted, has an eye for passes and can score goals, and he is still in, he’s got good years and experience at this level, I think it’s something that Leeds are definitely looking at and it suits them very well.”

O’Hare began his career at Villa and made his senior debut in 2017. He never managed to establish a regular place, having been loaned out to Carlisle United and Coventry before signing a permanent deal with the Sky Blues in 2020.  Premier League side West Ham are also said to be interested.
