Sources have told Football Insider that Everton are now turning their attention to a new move for Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto.

The Toffees, who completed a deal for Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam on Saturday (June 22), are now in the market for a striker who can provide an edge.

Sean Dyche’s side have already allowed 21-year-old striker Lewis Dobbin to join Aston Villa, and Football Insider revealed on Sunday (June 23) that Newcastle are in advanced talks to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Everton approached 20-year-old Gnont in last summer’s transfer window (2023) and continue to monitor his progress at Leeds.

The Merseysiders are now believed to be preparing an approach for the Italy international, who is keen to move on after failing to secure promotion to the Premier League with the Whites.

Everton are targeting Leeds star Gnont and Harrison has sealed the deal

Leeds fell at the final hurdle last month (May 26), losing 1-0 to Southampton in the play-off final at Wembley.

Gnonto started that match, one of 26 starts in 44 appearances in all competitions for Daniel Farke’s side last term.

He scored nine goals and three assists in those games.

The versatile striker, who can play in the front line, is under contract at Elland Road until June 2027.

Everton are already closing in on a deal for the Leeds star, with Football Insider revealing last week (June 20) that they are ready to agree a new season loan deal for Jack Harrison.

Farke’s side are expected to sell stars such as Gnonto, Crysencio Summerville and others this summer after failing to gain promotion back to the Premier League.
