Chelsea’s Pursuit of Nottingham Forest Defender: Murillo Speaks Out on Rumors

The British media has been abuzz with reports of Chelsea’s interest in signing Nottingham Forest defender, Murillo, in the summer transfer window.

The rumors suggest that the Reds are seeking a hefty sum of £70m (€82m) to sanction the sale of the 21-year-old center-back. In a recent interview on the podcast “Benja Me Mucho,” Murillo addressed the speculation surrounding his potential move to Chelsea.

Journalist Benjamin Back directly asked Murillo about the reports, inquiring whether the Blues’ interest and the £70m asking price were true. Murillo responded, “I don’t know if it’s 70 [million pounds], but I know there’s been a rumor of interest. So, I don’t know exactly how much it is, but I know there was interest.”

Murillo joined Nottingham Forest last summer from Corinthians, marking his first foray into European football after spending his entire playing career in Brazil.

The young defender views his time at Nottingham Forest as a stepping stone to bigger opportunities, stating, “It was my opinion, because I had the dream of playing in the Premier League and I had that thought. I said, ‘I’ll go to Nottingham Forest, have a good year, and then go to a big club.’ I had this in my head.”

In a lighthearted moment, Murillo even joked about the possibility of joining Chelsea when discussing his aspirations of playing for a top club. While the rumors continue to swirl, Murillo’s comments suggest that there may be some truth to Chelsea’s interest in the young defender.

Only time will tell if a deal will materialize, but one thing is certain – Murillo’s talent and ambition have caught the attention of the football world.
