Paris Saint-Germain are believed to have mentioned Crysencia Summerville in talks with their agency, but reports have denied any dialogue between them and Leeds United.
Summerville continues to attract interest from across Europe after a remarkable first season of regular football at Elland Road, with the 22-year-old crowned Championship player of the season after registering 20 goals and nine assists in 46 league games. Liverpool and Chelsea are believed to have a long-term interest in the winger, with Brighton emerging as serious contenders for his signature last month.
Despite continued speculation over Summerville’s future, the Yorkshire Evening Post understands that Leeds are not actively looking to sell the Dutchman – or anyone else. After selling Archie Gray to Tottenham for £40m, the club are in a better financial position to secure continued business on their terms and proposals will only be considered if the price is right and the player wants to leave.
Recent reports from Holland have added PSG to Summerville’s long list of admirers, claiming they have “set their sights” on the Leeds star and have already made contact with his representatives. But Romano has now played down those reports, explaining how Summerville’s name only came up during talks about another transfer target.

“There’s an interesting story that PSG are interested in Leeds United winger Crysencia Summerville,” Romano wrote in his Daily Briefing column. “I spoke earlier about Summerville being expected to leave Leeds after they failed to gain promotion back to the Premier League, and I also reported that Summerville were being discussed at Brighton, but what about these new links with PSG?
“As I understand it, the situation is this: Summerville has the same agents as Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida. PSG is talking to Geertruida personally, so Summerville was mentioned during the talks, but there are still no negotiations between the clubs or the player’s agents. It is an open race with Brighton and other interested clubs.”
The news will boost Leeds, who still hope to retain Summerville for another championship. The Dutch star has long been seen as the most likely exit from Elland Road, with Leeds having to raise the funds before the end of June to remain compliant with Profitability and Sustainability (PSR) regulations. But interest in the winger has not developed into anything concrete, while approaches for Gray have come thick and fast.
The 18-year-old had a release clause in his contract which became active when Leeds failed to gain promotion and a move south to Tottenham was confirmed on Tuesday but was submitted in time to be included in last season’s accounts. That sale, alongside Red Bull’s recent investment and the sale of Marco Roca to Real Betis, put Leeds in a much stronger position until the end of the window – so much so that they were able to fend off Premier League competition and sign Joe Rodon from Tottenham for £10m. There is no longer a desperate need to raise funds, so those in charge at the club will now look to maintain the ever-growing interest in Summerville and Wilfried Gnont, Georginio Rutter and Glen Kamara.
