As part of Everton’s ‘Goodison Festival’ plans, a series of shows could be lined up for thousands of fans.
Sunday 18th May 2025 will mark an emotional moment in the club’s long and storied history as the Blues take to the pitch in L4 for the final time before moving to Bramley Moore Dock.
Ahead of the season’s farewell, the Toffees have already begun announcing a series of events to celebrate leaving the place they’ve called home since 1892.
The club’s charity arm, Everton in the Community, has written to fans and revealed plans the club wants to stage a series of live music events when the curtain comes down on the Grand Old Lady.
Last week the club announced the first in a series of events planned for next summer, including Gwladys Street Presents: Cult Heroes, which will feature Lee Carsley, Daniel Amokachi and Thomas Gravesen. The trio will be joined in August by members of Sean Dyche’s first team and special guest Leon Osman.
In a letter seen by the LDRS, the ‘Farewell Goodison Festival’ would run for three nights and afternoons of live music between 30 May and 1 June 2025. Evening slots would run from 5pm to 10pm with a Saturday youth show between 1pm and 3pm. .
Each night will feature a different genre of music, including dance, pop and guitar music. According to the plans, the field should be free until 11 p.m.
The club is also likely to seek permission from Liverpool Council’s licensing department to perform live music, on similar terms to those granted for a series of concerts at Anfield last month. The Blues have previously been given the go-ahead for a non-football live event when boxer Tony Bellew won the vacant WBC heavyweight title in front of fans in 2016.
According to a letter sent to fans by Sarah Atherton, Everton’s community manager, a stage for 20,000 fans could be built to accommodate the events and host three acts in front of the Gwladys Street end. It is planned that the youth event will be smaller.
Atherton wrote that the events would provide “a rare and unique opportunity to experience an event of this nature at Goodison Park”.
A series of public meetings will be held on the proposals later this month. They will be held at The People’s Hub, Spellow Lane, from 10am to 12pm on Wednesday July 23 and from 4pm to 6pm the following day.
