There has been some news about a player that Nottingham Forest are very keen to sign.
The Reds will undoubtedly be busy in the transfer market this summer.
Forest have a number of voids in their squad to fill and Nuno Espirito Santo will also be looking to get rid of a few players.
So far, the Reds have landed Elliot Anderson for £35m from Newcastle and signed youngster Eric da Silva Moreira.
But now it has emerged that another club is confident of signing another player that Forest would like to sign.
The Premier League club believe they will sign the Forest-linked defender
This news comes in regards to Lyon defender Jake O’Brien.
The Sun claimed today that Everton believe they are in the best position to land O’Brien ahead of Forest and West Ham.
O’Brien is an uncompromising defender who is in high demand this summer.
The talented player has been courted by Forest as they look to fill the void left by Moussa Niakhate.
He joined Lyon for a fee worth around £27m and now Forest have a gap in their squad.
O’Brien is available for around £17m this summer and there appears to be something of a race for his signature.
If O’Brien leaves the Ligue 1 side this summer, Crystal Palace will receive some kind of fee considering he came through their academy.
O’Brien would be a brilliant signing for Forest
The 23-year-old would certainly sign with the future in mind should Forest succeed.
Everton may feel they are close to winning the race for O’Brien, but Forest could still catch the Toffees if they can deliver some regular football.
Sean Dyche already has Jarrod Branthwaite and James Tarkowski, who kept a good number of clean sheets last season.
Forest could therefore offer him more football and a platform to really prove himself in the Premier League.
O’Brien is a player with a good profile and would certainly be a player to excite Forest fans if the Reds were to succeed.
