West Ham could be dealt a major blow by Chelsea in the summer transfer window, with Enzo Maresca considering a move for one of Julen Lopetegui’s top targets.
Julen Lopetegui still has a lot of work to do at West Ham in the summer transfer window, and the same can be said for Chelsea boss Maresco.
But I didn’t care about them there in West London. Still, they could have a big impact on Lopetegui’s business this summer.
The Hammers head coach is looking at six new signings, so we can expect at least three new arrivals at the London Stadium before the start of the new season.
In my mind, he should have three main priorities – a new striker, a left winger and a central midfielder. In fact, you could argue that he needs two full-backs and another centre-back.
For now, however, he is expected to be employed by the additions of a striker, a left winger and a central midfielder.
Unfortunately for Lopetegui, however, Chelsea could spoil his plans to strengthen one of those positions…
Chelsea blew away West Ham in the summer transfer window
Lopetegui now faces an uphill battle to sign one of his top attacking targets this summer.
Chelsea have now thrown their hat in the ring to sign West Ham target Crysencia Summerville from Leeds United, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Summerville, 22, is a player the Hammers have been heavily linked with in recent months.
Leeds could demand around £30m (TEAMtalk) for the young Dutch winger, which I think is outstanding value.
The fact that he is a right-footed left winger makes him perfect for West Ham this summer.
He would complete our front line, so it’s easy to see why it would be such a blow for us to lose out to Chelsea in the race to sign the 22-year-old.
Summerville scored an impressive 21 goals and provided 10 assists in 49 appearances for Leeds United last season.
An extremely talented young player who is quick and backs up his electric pace with real punch in the final third.
Described as “electric” by TEAMtalk, Crysencio Summerville is undoubtedly ready to step up to Premier League stardom.
Unfortunately for West Ham, it looks like Chelsea could be in the best position to sign the Leeds star in the summer transfer window.
