Ajax striker Chuba Akpom has hinted that a move to Nottingham Forest this summer is a possibility if the Dutch club do not hand him a starting role.
The forward spoke to NOS via Soccer News in the Netherlands about his situation at Ajax, as Nottingham Forest have been linked with a return to England.
He joined Ajax last summer in a €12.3m deal from Middlesbrough as they looked to boost their scoring chances, but quickly found himself out of the game with Brian Brobbey establishing himself as first choice.
But that hasn’t stopped him from enjoying a relatively strong campaign despite only eight stars, with a total of 15 goals and three assists and 11 goals in 25 Eredivisie games.

Already in the summer, he expressed his desire to stay at the club and work under new coach Francesco Farioli, who was hired last summer after a disastrous year for the club.
But the desire to stay seems to be rooted in reality, and if he is not offered regular first-team football next season, a move could happen.
That should be good news for Nottingham Forest, who have already been linked with interest and a potential move this summer.
“What I’ve learned in my career is to just focus on football. If you start thinking about things off the pitch, it distracts you,” he said.
“I don’t know if I’ll be here next week or at the end of the transfer window, but every day I come to the club and train as if I’m going to stay here this season.
“I don’t think I can sit on the bench as a second striker for another year. If I get more involved in competitions this year, I’d like to stay here. If not, maybe it’s time to look further. We’ll see.”
