🚨BREAKING NEWS : Leeds United has come under fire for sending a contentious email to their most loyal supporters

admin

Leeds United fans who regularly attend away games have received an email from the club about increased ticket prices.

X-user Alexjl30 posted on social media that he had received an email from the club as one of their 265 ‘Super Away Visitors’, but the only reward for his loyalty was a steep rise in away ticket prices.

Away season tickets for supporters will now cost a staggering £850 for adults, a whopping £181 more than last season’s total of £669, despite the club still being in the same division.

The user in question highlighted the fact that he attended more than 80 per cent of away games from 2015 to 2020, the email says, and could now lose that loyalty unless he pays the new £850 price tag.

Leeds United risk alienating their most loyal fans

The saying goes that “Leeds would take more” and comes from an almost weekly observation of pitches up and down the country with away goals packed with United fans.

Watching the White Homes and Away weekly is something fans of all ages want — which is why the email includes under-16 and over-65 prices — but the trip itself is expensive enough.

A £181 price hike, despite the Whites failing to achieve their main goal of promotion, is not the sign of a club that puts fans first, or one that wants as many fans through the door as possible.

Fans have already seen one of the club’s young men sold when Archie Gray moved to Tottenham Hotspur, while Red Bull risk further alienation given their track record by buying a stake in the club.

And money like these, with Gray in the region of £40m and Red Bull involved in a record sponsorship deal, shows that money is far from tight at Elland Road.

Any such move in the coming weeks could create a toxic atmosphere for the club’s hierarchy, which is the last thing Daniel Farke’s side need to get off to a good start to the new season.
