🚨BREAKING NEWS :Leeds United is reportedly in a favorable position to sign one of the Championship’s top performers, according to recent reports

Leeds United are frontrunners in the race to sign “one of the best” players in the Championship this summer’s transfer window.

The Whites narrowly missed out on automatic promotion last season, so Daniel Farke will need to finish in the top two this season.

They made a good start to the window, adding Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United in a £5m deal.

They have now turned their attention to a striker who has been linked with Crystal Palace’s Jerusun Rak-Sakyi in recent days.

But a move for the highly-ranked Championship player seems more advanced at this stage.

Leaders Leeds have signed Sammie Szmodics

Leeds United are interested in signing Blackburn Rovers attacking midfielder Sammie Szmodics, according to The Mirror.

The West Yorkshire club are said to be leading the race for his signature alongside Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town.

Szmodics had a prolific season last season, scoring 27 league goals, which was enough to see him crowned the Golden Boot winner.

Rovers are desperate to keep him at Ewood Park after the summer and have offered a lucrative wage package.

   The 28-year-old has a contract until 2026.

Peterborough’s owners say Szmodics would secure promotion

Szmodics, now regarded as “one of the best players” in the Championship at Bristol Live, honed his skills at Peterborough United before joining Rovers.

His former owner Darragh MacAnthony recently claimed that the Ireland international will virtually guarantee Leeds promotion if he moves to Elland Road.

“Sammie, if I was Leeds United, because they’re going to lose some talent and they’re going to do what they have to do to bring them in,” MacAnthony told the Peterborough United website.

“It pretty much guarantees you promotion because you’re buying a Golden Boot winner. That’s my advice Leeds fans, buy Sammie Szmodics. Sorry Blackburn fans.”
