   Tottenham transfer news
After a mixed debut season that ultimately ended in failure to qualify for the Champions League, Ange Postecoglou and Spurs have endured a slow transfer window this summer, bringing in just two fresh faces.    Arguably the standout amongst their arrivals was Archie Gray who completed his move from Leeds United to join the already arrived Lucas Bergvall.

The 18-year-old has enjoyed a superb season in the Championship most recently, becoming one of the best youngsters in a deserved move.  As a result, Spurs won the race for his much-coveted signature.  earlier this summer.    The midfielder-turned-right-back was in Spurs colors for the first time as they beat Hearts 5-1 in their first game of pre-season.

The Lilywhites, who are now potentially turning to more experienced options, are said to be given the chance to sign the Premier League rivals.    According to HITC’s Graeme Bailey, Mason Mount’s representatives have approached Spurs over a potential deal this summer, with Manchester United now set to sell the midfielder for £60m just a year after his arrival.

Chelsea graduate Mount could certainly steal plenty of headlines with a move to north London, but it remains to be seen whether Spurs would be willing to secure his signature and pay his reported £250,000-a-week.    But there is no doubt that this would be one of the most interesting moves of the summer and one that could revive Mount’s career.

The “Superb” Mount would be perfect for Ange

While things are yet to work under Erik ten Hag, Mount may have a better chance of rediscovering their best form under Postecoglou.    The Australian’s high-energy system could be a perfect fit for the former Chelsea man, who would be given permission to soar high and finally find his creative intuition again, possibly alongside James Maddison.

Even after a spell to forget at Manchester United, it’s worth noting that Mount still has plenty of fans in European football, with Kylian Mbappe once saying via The Metro when asked who he would like to see in an interview with  France Football: “Gigi, because I would like to know what he will do next, Messi, because he doesn’t talk much, so we would discover things because he is a great player that we don’t know much about yet.

It’s the right company and praise for a player who desperately needs to find his form, be it at Manchester United or with a move to Spurs this summer.    With just over a month until the end of the transfer window, Mount is worth keeping an eye on.
