Leeds United have so far stood firm in their approach to Crysencia Summerville this summer.
Summerville continue to be linked with some of the biggest clubs in European football after winning the 2023/24 POTS Championship, but that move has yet to materialise.
Chelsea and Liverpool were both listed as interested clubs earlier in the summer, but are yet to come to the table with a suitable offer.
Recently, West Ham United, Rennes and AS Roma have emerged as potential destinations, but again nothing has come to the advanced stages.
West Ham appear to have been put off by Leeds’ asking price after submitting a bid earlier this week, while Roma have signed Matias Soule from Juventus instead.
What Leeds are saying to clubs who want Summerville
There is said to be an understanding in the Leeds and Summerville camps that an exit is very likely before the end of the window.
In recognition of the platform Leeds have set for his career, Summerville is determined to give the Whites the best deal possible.
An asking price of £30m is what has been mentioned in recent weeks, but according to Team Talk, the figure is actually closer to £35m.
According to the same report, Leeds have made it very clear to interested clubs that they will not accept any “reduced” offers and that any club looking to sign him will simply have to meet that rating.
Conversely, across Europe, Leeds’ value has been suggested to be more in the £17m-£21m range.
However, following the sale of Archie Gray, Leeds are not in a position where they are desperate to sell, so they are almost certainly a long way off the target, with the £30m figure mentioned earlier being much more accurate.
What Daniel Farke said about the future of Summerville
After what he achieved last season, there is no one at Leeds who would be against Summerville staying for another year.
At the same time, there has to be a sense of realism that Summerville has now undoubtedly outgrown the Championship and deserves its own move.
After Wednesday’s win against Hannover, Farke conceded both sides of the argument and admitted there was a possibility he could leave.
He said: “Well you can never rule anything out in football so anything is possible. I can’t make any guarantees on that because I’m not a magician. I can only judge what I see and they’re both totally connected, they’re having fun being here, they work hard.
“Even today was a game where the opposition tried to give some signs and the first goal is always Summerville or Gnonto with a lot of attacks. It showed the maturity of how they handled it and how they continued to come into good form.
“That’s why I can only judge what I see, I see hard work and dedication, a good attitude and because of that I more than hope they will come out with top performances like last season.”
