Jack Harrison has spoken about the lengths he went to to help Leeds United stay in the Premier League.

   The winger spent three seasons in the top flight at Elland Road, playing a key role in their promotion in 2020 under Marcelo Bielsa.

   He contributed 21 goals and 16 assists in 107 Premier League appearances over three years before the Whites were relegated in 2023.

   Harrison was loaned to Everton last season before returning to Goodison Park on another temporary deal.

   The forward is still under contract with Leeds, who will be vying for promotion back to League One after narrowly missing out on a return in the previous campaign.

   Harrison revealed he played through groin injuries until the end of his time at Elland Road.

   He admitted he needed major surgery after the end of the 2022/23 season after pushing his body to the limit to help the club avoid relegation.

   “I gave everything for the club,” Harrison said, via The Athletic .

   “Even in the last month I’ve been playing through the injury and delaying surgery just to try and do everything I can to keep them.

   “I’m not sure if anyone knows, but I tore the cartilage, the tendon in my groin.

   “I had to get nails done over the summer to fix it but I wanted to push myself to the limit to help Leeds.

   – It was probably the worst thing I’ve been through as an actor.

   “I took a lot of painkillers and anti-inflammatories to reduce the pain.

   “I would feel even worse after the game.

   “If it had been at the start of the season, I would have taken more time to do something about it.

   “When the summer came it was really frustrating because we got relegated and I had a serious injury that required surgery.

   “Whatever the fans say, I have no regrets.”

   Harrison made 29 Premier League appearances for Everton last season, with three goals and three assists.

   He has been a key part of Sean Dyche’s squad and has already moved quickly to secure a return to the Toffees next term.

   Everton finished 15th in the table despite receiving a six-point penalty and will be looking to fight their way further up the table over the next 12 months.

   Meanwhile, Leeds will fight for the top two places in the championship without Harrison.

   Harrison deserves respect for what he has done for Leeds

   Some fans may not appreciate Harrison leaving to stay in the Premier League, but he should deserve all their respect for his dedication to the team.

   He was a key part of their rise under Bielsa, proving to be a top performer during his time at Elland Road.

   Had he secured promotion last season, there’s a good chance he could have stayed in Daniel Farke’s side.

   But he has earned the right to push for a place in the Premier League and deserves the understanding of all sections of the fan base who believe he should remain in the Championship side.
