   This smart, forward-thinking strategy should have been used by the Toffees for years under Farhad Moshiri, but better late than never.

   Now, this report attempts to outline what appears to be an exit plan rather than a failed takeover, and it actually makes sense.

   Portuguese outlet BolaVIP are the latest to detail Everton’s pursuit of a striker, with the transfer carousel fueling the uncertain future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract.

   Despite eight solid years at Goodison Park, the Englishman has been left somewhat frustrated by the takeover turmoil and lack of cash for his new deal.

   If reports are to be believed, he is looking for greener pastures this summer.

   With that in mind, plenty of replacements have already been offered, with Armando Broja a target for Everton who refuses to leave.

   Brazilian shot-stopper Yuri Alberto is another, with this report now claiming: “Yuri was also on Everton’s radar but the Toffees have not made a formal offer for the São Jorge Park outfit. We don’t think it’s happening as other names have been sought  on the market.

   “A number of Saudi football teams have also recently inquired about Timão and would like to place their trust in the player. Initial contacts included an offer of €20m (£17m) (R$121m at current prices).”

   Overall, he is considered a solid all-rounder capable of finding the net and leading the line with fine penetration and high pressure, which could be an intelligent move to replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with little risk as he could probably be sold in the future.
