Brighton have built a reputation in the Premier League for their smart and prudent transfer decisions.
The Seagulls made a profit of £122.8m in 2023-24 – the most of any Premier League team ever.
This comes after Brighton sold Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for £115m, as well as Alexis MacAllister and Roberto Sanchez.
Brighton, regarded as one of the best-run clubs in the league, are looking to take advantage of the summer once again to strengthen Fabian Hurzeler’s squad.
Five new signings have already arrived at the Amex Stadium, including big deals for Yankubo Minteh and Mats Wieffer.
They are now preparing a new summer deal – one that could see attacking midfielder Facundo Buonanotte leave on loan.
Facundo Buonanotte compared to Lionel Messi
Buonanotte had a breakout season in 2023-24, making 27 Premier League appearances under Roberto De Zerbi.
But Brighton are now willing to let the Argentine talent go out on loan to gain more experience, with Dutch side Feyenoord reportedly close to a deal.
VoetbalPrimeur quotes the comments of Carlos Tevez, who once compared Buonanotti and Lionel Messi.
Speaking about the Brighton star, Tevez said: “The way he runs and accelerates reminds me of Messi. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen someone give me so much joy.”
One to watch out for
Buonanotte hasn’t set the Premier League on fire during his time at Brighton, but he clearly has the potential to become a future star.
With a move to Rotterdam close to completion, Brighton fans will want to keep an eye on the 19-year-old’s progress.
Minteh’s arrival this summer pushed him down, but Brighton are clearly keen to keep him on their books.
