Nottingham Forest’s pre-season came to an end when they beat Olympiacos in their last friendly.

Thursday night’s trip to Greece was a success for Forest as the traveling fans secured a thrilling 4-3 victory.

Nuna Espirito Santo’s side led 4-1 at one stage before the hosts managed to score twice after some late changes.

Now it’s time for final preparations to begin behind the scenes at the club ahead of Bournemouth’s visit to the City Ground next week.

The mood in the team will be due to a good summer both on and off the pitch.

And it’s clear that Callum Hudson-Odoi was impressed with one particular player after the game against Evangelos Marinakis’ other club.

Captain Ryan Yates was again on the scoresheet twice in Greece, with the midfielder proving to be a surprise goalscorer.

Chris Wood could have got another to his name as Forest began to sail forward at this stage.

But the pick of the bunch came from Anthony Elanga who danced his way through the Olympiacos team before slotting the ball home.

And it’s fair to say one of his team-mates was very impressed when he exchanged a message after the game.

Elanga scored for Forest in Greece and a goal that showed the winger’s quality.

After the game, Elanga and Forest posted pictures of the goal from the touchline as the Sweden international worked his magic.

Hudson-Odoi immediately took to commentary after the match to share his excitement at what his team-mate was able to create.

The Forest winger kept it simple as he responded to Elanga’s post with two fire emojis after Elanga lit up the pitch.

It wasn’t just his teammates who were amazed by what Elanga produced on the field, and the journalists covering it felt the same way.

Athletics’ Paul Taylor took to social media following Elanga’s goal to share his surprise at what the youngster had produced.

“Elanga produced a superb solo effort to put them 4-1 up,” he said.

It was a truly fantastic effort from Elanga and Forest fans will be hoping for more next season.

Forest are now hoping they can keep hold of the Swede, with Newcastle United interested in signing the £15million Elango this summer.
