In addition to the new signings, we expected to see a number of winger departures from Arsenal this summer. Nuno Tavares (loan), Albert Sambi Lokonga (loan) and Emile Smith Rowe have left, but there are more expected departures on the horizon.
Players like Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson are also likely to leave. Both Nelson and Nketiah are outstanding players, but their potential buyers don’t seem willing to hit the asking price. Now it looks like Nelson may have a chance to find a new team soon where he can secure regular minutes, which would be great for him.
Leicester are apparently still interested in Nelson following the collapse of the Adam Hlozko deal, as reported by the Telegraph’s John Percy. It looks like the Foxes may finally be willing to meet Nelson’s asking price, but there appears to be an issue with the deal. The Steve Cooper-led team see the winger’s weekly wages of around £120,000 as a major obstacle to completing his deal.
The ball is definitely in Hale End Graduate’s court; he should consider taking a pay cut to follow his passion or stay with Emirates and continue to collect a lucrative salary.
However, Percy does not shy away from mentioning that Arsenal could consider keeping hold of Reiss Nelson if he fails to find a suitable destination this summer. what do you think
