BREAKING NEWS :Jamie Vardy Surprised by Jamie Carragher’s ‘Disgusting’ Comparison to Liverpool

The 2024/25 Premier League season begins. There were no major surprises in the first weekend, but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t a lot to talk about in the first edition of Sky Sports Monday Night Football.

The most high-profile comments came from Gary Neville, who predictably predicted that Liverpool would finish outside the top four, at the expense of Manchester United (what?) and Chelsea (you’re kidding, right?). But the fun on the show wasn’t limited to the former United man’s nonsensical rants.

There was also a quiz between Jamie Carragher and Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy. The Foxes were at home on Monday night and drew 1-1 with Tottenham thanks to a goal from their legendary striker. Vardy didn’t win the game, but he did win the quiz, despite finding one aspect of one question “disgusting”.

It was a pre-recorded segment (which you can watch below) where the pair were asked a variety of questions, mostly about the Premier League. Which team won the most opening weekend games, which was the biggest first-game score, and more.

But some were related to the players themselves. “Jamie Vardy has more red cards in the Premier League than Jamie Carragher: true or not,” was one such puzzle. What do you think the answer is? The former Liverpool man initially thought it was him. “I got one at Fulham, one at Charlton,” Carragher said.

Vardy, meanwhile, began counting his departure: “Stoke, West Ham, Wolves.” The expert chose the man from Leicester simply on the basis that he himself was the answer to the previous question and it seemed unlikely that he would be the same answer again. Vardy played for Carragher, but he was proved wrong. Both got their counts right, making it 3-2 for players on the day.

In the video of the quiz, Vardy expressed slight anger, but it seemed to be more due to the question being asked incorrectly than anything else. However, he did give an interview to the Monday Night Football panel after the game. It ended with presenter Dave Jones jokingly suggesting Vardy watch the quiz online to find out the result.

“I’m sure I’ve congratulated Carri, he’s going to beat me for sure,” Vardy said. “I couldn’t believe I got banned so many times, it’s disgusting,” he added, prompting laughter from the panel. The Leicester striker shouldn’t feel bad – you can get away with a lot more on Carragher Day!
