REPORT :Jamie Vardy explains why he taunted Tottenham HotSpurs fans in Leicester City draw

admin

Asked about the gesture he made to Spurs fans on Monday night, Jamie Vardy insisted he was only responding to the stick he received from the Tottenham faithful.

Leicester City 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur

The traveling section at the King Power Stadium really came into their own in the first half as Tottenham were completely dominant and Leicester struggled to get a shot at all.

However, they failed to count on their superiority and led 1-0 by the break, and the home team made up for it in the second half.

It was Vardy who leveled the game for the Foxes in the 57th minute when he mistimed a shot at the far post and diverted the ball past Guglielmo Vicario.

Why did Jamie Vardy abuse Spurs fans?

The Englishman was taken off by Steve Cooper in the dying moments of the game, but when he left the pitch he showed the Spurs fans 1-0 to mock the fact that he has won more Premier League titles than the Lilywhites.

When asked about his gesture, the Leicester man said after the game (via the Irish Independent ): “You take a piece of stick during the game. As long as they can take it when I return it, that’s fine.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It didn’t really sound like the traveling fans gave Vardy much trouble during the game. It just seemed like an unprovoked move by a striker.

For some strange reason Leicester fans and their players have always tried to start a rivalry with Spurs since the 2015-16 season, so I wasn’t surprised by what Vardy did.
