Despite great progress on the pitch over the past 12 months, Everton are still a long way from where they want to be at their new stadium.

After all, the Bramley-Moore Dock arena promises a refresh, both commercial and physical, trading at Goodison Park and all the recent turmoil for the venue to take them to a brighter future.

The economy is slowly on the mend, and progress has also been made regarding Sean Dyche’s squad.

There is reason for optimism, but as always caution must be exercised.

However, Phil Jagielka remains completely baffled as to how the Toffees takeover is going as the saga continues to drag on.

Phil Jagielka doubts Everton’s takeover plans

Speaking on David Seaman’s Seaman Says podcast, the former Arsenal goalkeeper invited the 42-year-old to talk all things Everton and the rest of the Premier League.

After all, it was a busy opening weekend of fixtures, with his former side Brighton and Hove Albion being disappointed by three goals to nil.

But Jagielek was more interested in the Toffees’ takeover shake-up, saying: “It’s difficult when you hear someone is going to buy it, someone is going to do a takeover. Well, we haven’t heard from half of them and the other guy is now part of another club as well.

‘So you have no idea. Yes, how the hell is this going to work out? Because usually, if someone wants to buy a club, it just happens. There must be something we don’t know.

Jagielka spoke about the atmosphere at Goodison Park and how it has changed since he left after years of such emotional distress.

What about the Everton takeover?

The Everton takeover is indeed under scrutiny at the moment, and rightly so given its importance.

After all, the search for a new owner will not only remove Farhad Moshiri from his position, but also bring in a new face with renewed optimism that a brighter future can soon be achieved.

Despite investing much of his immense wealth into the club when he first joined, the Iranian billionaire has since given up trying to make a difference at the side he promised.

Instead, his reckless spending has now left them in mountains of debt, with John Textor the only real suitor willing to try to deal with it.
