Wout Faes is reportedly “not happy” with his current situation at Leicester City, according to recent reports.
On Monday, it was revealed that the Belgian defender has held discussions with the Foxes’ leadership regarding his future at the club, with Sacha Tavolieri noting that Faes is particularly unhappy with his role on the left side of the defence.
Faes, who has been deployed in a slightly altered position during the first two fixtures of the Premier League campaign, is now said to be “looking for a solution” before the transfer window closes on Friday night at 11 pm.
In the opening match against Tottenham Hotspur, Faes was positioned as a left-sided centre-back in a traditional back four.
However, during the trip to Fulham, he was part of a back five, which saw him shift further towards the left flank.
This tactical adjustment allowed Victor Kristiansen, playing as a wing-back, more freedom to advance up the pitch, with Faes providing cover behind him.
City fans might be surprised by this development, particularly after Faes scored during Leicester’s 2-1 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
Despite his reported dissatisfaction, Faes had previously credited manager Steve Cooper and seemed to embrace his new responsibilities. Speaking to Leicester City Football Club’s website after the match, Faes said:
“Then obviously the coach will speak to us about it and we will take that into training and improve. It’s all about the dynamics that he [Steve Cooper] puts into it. He gives me a lot of responsibility, which I like, so I hope to keep playing a lot and play all season.”
He added: “Of course, we now have to focus on the cup [against Tranmere Rovers] first. We have a good game at home again to get some momentum going into the weekend to maybe get the first win in the Premier League as well.”
As the transfer deadline approaches, it remains to be seen whether Faes will secure a move or adapt to his current role at Leicester.
