Fulham are interested in signing Newcastle United striker Miguel Almiron ahead of the summer transfer deadline on Friday night, according to talkSPORT journalist and transfer expert Alex Crook.

The 30-year-old Paraguay international has been linked with a move away all summer and it seems he could finally secure a transfer in the coming days.

His potential departure could prompt Newcastle to bring in a new striker, and manager Eddie Howe will be keen to bring in the perfect man.

Almiron is not in the plans of the Magpies boss, as he only came off the bench in the 89th minute against Bournemouth on Sunday.

He may have played his last game for Newcastle and Fulham are looking to recruit his services and keep him in the Premier League.

The South American joined the Toons in January 2019 from Atlanta United and has made 210 appearances in all competitions to date, contributing 30 goals and 12 assists.

The departure of Almiron, despite his quality, won’t hurt Newcastle in the final third, but if he fails to bring in another striker to bolster their attacking depth, it could be disastrous.

The versatile striker will be looking to prove himself elsewhere after falling out of favor under Howe and a move to Fulham could appeal.

The St James’ Park club have spent £63m so far this summer completing deals for Lewis Hall, William Osula and Odysseas Vlachodimos, while Lloyd Kelly and John Ruddy have joined on a free, and are keen to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Marco Guehi a £70m deal.

Elliot Anderson was sold to Nottingham Forest for £35m and Yankub Minteh to Brighton & Hove Albion for £30m, and Almiron could be the next to be sold for a decent fee.
