Nottingham Forest want to sign West Ham midfielder James Ward-Prowse before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Friday (August 30), according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist is through his personal account X [29. August] reported that Forest have added the 29-year-old’s name to their list of potential signings before the transfer window closes.

It is understood that nothing has yet been agreed between the two clubs, with Julen Lopetegui’s side yet to decide on the midfielder’s future.

West Ham United to sell James Ward-Prows to Nottingham Forest before August 30?

According to the latest information on the former Southampton captain, it is clear that he is not part of Lopetegui’s plans at the London Stadium.

However, it remains to be seen whether the club are keen to sell the player to a Premier League rival after paying £30m for him last summer [BBC Sport].

He was a key part of David Moyes’ side last season, starting 34 of 38 Premier League games during the campaign, 14 of which he did not contribute.

While Ward-Prowse is an extremely talented midfielder – a wonderful technician on the ball – a new influx of signings could be what seals his last gasp exit this summer, but only for the right price.

The Saints are understood to be interested in bringing him back to St Mary’s Stadium, although they can only afford a loan after securing promotion last season, something the Hammers are not open to [GiveMeSport].

However, it seems The City Ground could be his next destination, but Lopetegui and Tim Steidten will soon have to make a decision as the transfer window draws to a close.

With Edson Alvarez back from injury, Tomas Soucek operating well in midfield alongside Lucas Paqueta and new signing Guido Rodriguez, Ward-Prowse’s exit could be sealed.
