Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner will undergo a medical at Crystal Palace on deadline day.

The Eagles are in need of another goalkeeper, with Sam Johnstone set to join Wolverhampton Wanderers and it appears they have gone for a new goalkeeper in Forest’s youth ranks.

The deadline day has been moved
According to Romano, the south Londoner has now reached an agreement with Forest to sign Turner, who is awaiting a medical on Friday.

“Crystal Palace agree with Nottingham Forest to sign Matt Turner as new GK. He is a replacement for Sam Johnston who has signed for Wolves. Doctor today.”

It comes after Wolves completed a £10m deal to sign England international Sam Johnston from the Eagles on deadline day morning. Palace wasted no time in making the switch and it is no surprise that Forest are willing to part ways with Turner.

The American international has been criticized for his early performances at Forest and was not on the bench for Forest’s first two Premier League games, with manager Nuno Santo preferring new signing Matz Sels as first-choice and Carlos Miguel as a substitute.

Turner has been included on the bench for the League Cup tie against Newcastle, which will now look set to be his final matchday appearance for Forest.
