Tottenham Hotspur made five signings in the summer transfer window, the most expensive being the £65 million arrival of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth.
The north Londoners shelled out £124m in total, but their net spend was around £78m after making a number of high-profile sales, including Oliver Skipp’s move to Leicester City.
But despite the productive window, it could have been even better if we hadn’t missed those three goals…
Georgy Sudakov – Shakhtar Donetsk
Georgiy Sudakov was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham earlier this summer but the £60m deal fell through.
Sudakov, who talkSPORT compares to Phil Foden, has had a fantastic season for Shakhtar, scoring 10 times and providing six assists.
The 2002-born player would provide fantastic depth in an attacking midfield that would rotate with James Maddison.
Tottenham will certainly be keeping a close eye on his progress this term.
Santiago Gimenez – Feyenoord
Tottenham were reportedly close to signing Santiago Gimenez in June as they looked to bring in a number nine.
Instead, they picked Solanke later in the window and it remains to be seen if that was the right decision by the recruiting team.
Gimenez has scored 53 goals in 90 games for Feyenoord since arriving in 2022 and has been named “one of the 10 best players in Europe” according to MedioTiempo.
Pedro Neto – Chelsea
Before Pedro Neto completed his £54million move to Chelsea, Tottenham were tracking the Portuguese winger.
Neto has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most exciting goalscorers in recent seasons, but his injury record may have deterred Spurs from signing him.
Either way, they missed out on a top player.
