According to a recent report, one of Leeds United’s summer signings has already caused a row at the football club.
The Whites have been very busy over the summer as they have made several personnel changes to build a squad capable of returning to the Premier League. In the current state, the additions have had a good effect, as they are unbeaten in the first four games of the championship.
Leeds United deal after the window
Leeds have added eight players to their squad during the summer transfer window, including Joe Rodon, Jayden Bogle and Manor Solomon. In addition to the arrivals, the Yorkshire team also sent 19 players, some of whom left with big names.

But while the England window is now closed, it was reported on Monday that the Whites have agreed an early transfer window which will see them sign Leonard Ngenge on a pre-contract agreement. The 16-year-old defender has already spent some time in Leeds training and was recently on trial.
Ngenge reportedly caught the eye during the trial and Leeds decided to offer him a contract, but due to FIFA rules he cannot join the club until he turns 18. The defender will join Leeds’ youth team when he turns 18 and hopes to do enough to one day earn a first-team opportunity.
The new Leeds contract is causing controversy
According to the Rheinische Post, linked by Sport Witness, Ao Tanaka, who joined Leeds towards the end of the transfer window, was never “first choice” for the club. The report claims that the Yorkshire hierarchy have decided to pick up the player after missing out on other targets, which has not pleased manager Daniel Farke as there is disagreement over the deal between the manager and Leeds’ senior management.
Tanaka had less than a year left on his contract at Fortuna Düsseldorf and with his refusal to sign a new contract, the German side decided to cash in on him when Leeds came in and signed a four-year contract.
The 25-year-old joined Fortuna Düsseldorf in July 2022 and has scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 95 games during his time at the club. The midfielder, who can operate in both a defensive midfield and an attacking role, was a key figure in the German side that reached the Bundesliga 2 final last season, but he appears to have some work to do to make it.
