Nottingham Forest fans are expecting to see Morgan Gibbs-White in England’s starting line-up after injury news broke.

Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Ollie Watkins have all left the squad due to ongoing injury problems, leaving room for the Forestman to break into the team.

Both Foden and Palmer were tipped to take over the number ten role in Lee Carsley’s side, but their absence leaves only Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze as possible options.

The likes of Conor Gallagher, Angel Gomes and Jack Grealish could also be replaced there, but they have been used elsewhere for their clubs and in previous appearances in England.

Forest fans were stunned when Gibbs-White was named in Carsley’s first England squad, with social media flooded with praise for the midfielder.

Now, as his chances of playing a significant amount of time increase, the excitement at the City Ground continues to grow.

Nottingham Forest fans stunned as Morgan Gibbs-White makes ‘certainty’ England debut

England take on the Republic of Ireland on Saturday 7 September as Carsley takes charge of his first game as senior team manager.

The call-up of Gibbs-White, Gomes, Noni Madueke and Tino Livramento came because the coach knows and trusts the players, having worked with them at Under-21 level.

Things now appear to have fully fallen into place for Gibbs-White to make his England debut, with fans flocking to social media to make the point.
