Leeds United are considering offering Patrick Bamford a new contract after securing the future of Wilfried Gnont, reporter Ben Jacobs exclusively tells GIVEMESPORT.
The Whites see a new deal for their star man as a “priority” as they look to keep Bamford at Elland Road for the foreseeable future.
According to Jacobs, Bamford is also open to extending his contract at Leeds and has “never had a problem” playing in the Championship despite opportunities elsewhere.
With his current contract set to expire in 2026, the 31-year-old was linked with a move away from Elland Road during the summer transfer window and now appears to be content with extending his stay. However, Jacobs suggests that Bamford’s injury history remains a concern for the 49ers.
Leeds chiefs recently signed winger Gnonto to a new contract until 2028, ending speculation over the Italian international’s future at Leeds.

“He doesn’t want to go anywhere”
Speaking exclusively to GMS, Jacobs hinted that Bamford is happy to stay at Leeds and is open to extending his current deal beyond 2026:
“I think 49ers Enterprises might want to wait a little bit longer with one or two to try to put themselves in a stronger negotiating position.
“That’s why we may not see a rush of renewals, says Willy Gnonto, in the next few days or weeks.
“I’ve heard Bamford is a priority and he’s willing to extend and he’s never had a problem playing in the Championship compared to other options.
“He’s very loyal to Leeds, he doesn’t want to go anywhere at this stage. The consideration will be whether he can stay fit and whether Leeds want to offer a long-term deal as we know he’s had so many unfortunate injury problems.”
Bamford’s current contract sees him earn £70,000 a week – more than any other player in the Leeds squad, according to Capology.
The 31-year-old had an impressive scoring run in the Championship last season, not starting any of the first 25 games of the season, scoring seven goals in 10 games between January and March.
Bamford has only started in Leeds’ 3-0 defeat to his former club Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup so far this season. He has yet to score a goal or assist in 112 minutes of play.
Since joining Leeds in 2018, the 31-year-old has made 190 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 60 goals and providing 22 assists.

The Japanese international arrived on deadline day
Leeds United beat Celtic and several European clubs to the signing of Ao Tanaka this summer, according to The Athletic.
The 25-year-old midfielder is said to have attracted the attention of several clubs across the continent, including Denmark’s Midtjylland and Serie A side Como. Tanaka arrived at Elland Road on deadline day as a last-minute addition after the Whites missed out on targets such as Gustavo Hamer and Dejan Ljubicic.
The Japanese international shone at Fortuna Düsseldorf last season, scoring eight goals and registering four assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.
