Chris Sutton believes it is “ridiculous” that Everton fans have turned against Sean Dyche amid the latest sacking claims.
Everton have had a poor start to the Premier League this season, with the club languishing at the bottom of the table.
The worst of their results was undoubtedly their last encounter against Bournemouth, where they managed to overturn a two-goal lead from the 87th minute to lose 3-2.
Writing for the BBC in his weekly predictions on 13 September, where he predicted that Everton would lose 2-0 to Aston Villa, Sutton shared his thoughts on Dyche’s situation.
“Everton boss Sean Dyche is under pressure after their latest capitulation against Bournemouth,” wrote Sutton.
“I feel like some of their fans have turned on Dyche now, which I think is ridiculous, but he needs a result and, unfortunately for him, Villa Park is not a place for Everton to get anything.
“The Toffees were thrashed there 4-0 last season and although they will fight, they will not get a result this time either.”
Everton need to give Sean Dyche more time
There’s no denying that Everton have had a terrible start to the Premier League season.
Some of the players Dyche managed to bring in during the summer have been positive reinforcements in the Toffees ranks, but the likes of Jesper Lindström and Jake O’Brien have yet to make a big impact on the first team as the new boys are yet to really be called up top league.
Dyche has yet to form the aforementioned duo, but newcomers like Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam have made a noticeable difference.
Lindstrom and O’Brien need time to settle into the team and learn their ways, but if the form of Ndiaye and Iroegbunam is anything to go by, it looks like Dyche needs to include both as soon as possible.
These are all ifs, buts and maybes, but if things don’t change soon, Dyche will be hard to defend to keep his job.
