🚨BREAKING :Newcastle United duo banned from accessing Twitter as ‘furious’ Elon Musk reacts

Newcastle United duo Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton will be unable to access Twitter during their stay in Brazil.

   This was after the South American country upheld a Supreme Court judge’s decision to ban the social media app in the country.    The platform, renamed X 2023, was used by a tenth of Brazil’s 200 million inhabitants.

   Alexandre de Moraes, the judge, accused X of enabling the spread of disinformation, which led to the blocking of many of former president Jair Bolsonaro’s accounts due to the investigation.    Anyone caught using VPNs – software that allows internet users to access websites from different countries – could be fined up to R$50,000 (£6,700).

   X closed its Brazilian offices last month and was threatened with fines if it did not close the proposed accounts.    Moraes also placed responsibility on X if any of the banned orders are reactivated.

   On Friday, Brazil seized $3 million from X and Starlink, a subsidiary of Musk’s space company SpaceX.    Musk – the world’s richest man, worth $243.7 billion – reacted strongly to the decision, calling Moraes the “Darth Vader of Brazil” for curbing free speech.

   X, formerly Twitter, has been a popular tool for footballers to interact with fans since its heyday in the early 2010s.    The app has sparked controversy and some of the biggest topics in sports, but positives include direct communication with fans.

   Newcastle have two Brazilian stars in their ranks, Guimaraes and Joelinton.    The latter is not on the platform, but Guimaraes has 314,000 followers on the platform.

   Currently, he will not be allowed to use X in his home country.    Guimaraes last wrote on September 1 following the Magpies’ 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur.
