Newcastle United are said to be monitoring Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane.
According to Football Insider, the 28-year-old has attracted the interest of Eddie Howe’s men, with the German international also being closely watched by Arsenal and Liverpool.
Sane’s current deal with Bayern Munich only has 10 months left to run, although the Bundesliga side are said to be in talks to extend it.
But those talks could fall through as the winger will have to take a pay cut to stay at the Bavarian giants.
The uncertainty surrounding Sane’s future has seen many clubs monitor the situation.
Newcastle are in the hunt for a winger after rejecting a bid for Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga on transfer deadline day.
Sane has experience in the Premier League, having made 135 appearances in all competitions during his time at Manchester City, scoring 39 goals and providing 43 assists.
The winger has made 175 appearances since joining Bayern Munich, scoring 48 goals and providing 50 assists in all competitions.
Newcastle’s summer transfer window saw a number of first-team arrivals and was marked by a failed bid to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Marco Guehi.
But he allowed Newcastle to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League after Sunday’s 2-1 win over Wolves.
After the win, Howe told Sky Sports: “It’s a big win for us. Away from home we have questions to answer and it’s a big step forward for us.
“I wasn’t really happy [at half-time] and the guys know they have to play. We have the ability to make those changes. I have to give credit to the players who came in. Everyone played their part and it’s a big win.
“I got a sense of urgency at the start of the half and then it settled down a bit and Fabian’s goal gave us confidence. Harvey needed a moment of real quality and then we had cramps and all that fight at the end to get over the line.
“I think we’re taking a step forward in terms of our performances. I think it was a step in the right direction. We can improve in a lot of different aspects and we’re going to work on that this week. We’re a really tight-knit group and we have to stay that way.”
