JUST IN :Pundit says ‘shocking’ Newcastle star looked like a seven-year-old in 2-1 win over Wolves

Newcastle recorded their second successive Premier League win on Sunday.

   Eddie Howe saw his side equalize through Fabian Schar in the 75th minute before Harvey Barnes put the Magpies 2-1 up with a wonderful strike in the 80th minute.

   Newcastle deserve huge credit for pulling three points from the jaws of defeat, although one player was described as a seven-year-old child in a bizarre moment…

   Stephen Warnock criticizes Joe Willock

   It was Joe Willock who set up Barnes for the winner, although Newcastle’s 28 Stephen Warnock was jeered at on Sky Sports for his amateur foul in the 69th minute.

   Speaking on Ref Watch, the 42-year-old said: “It’s terrible. They took him as a seven-year-old in the park when they can’t throw the ball properly. It’s one of the worst throws you’ve got.”  I’m going to see absolutely shocking from Willock.”

   In case you missed it, the 25-year-old’s throw didn’t matter in the end as Jason Tindall was shown the odd yellow card for throwing the ball at Willock, who is highly rated by Emile Smith Rowe.

   As also seen on Ref Watch, Dermot Gallagher revealed that the card was waved due to the fact that only players can pick up balls on the cones that surround the pitch.

   While Willock’s foul was egregious, we’d rather focus on how utterly stupid the rule that got Tindall booked really is.

   Newcastle should appeal

   It may sound cheesy, but Newcastle should make an official appeal against Tindall’s yellow card.

   What could be the logical explanation for the backstage employee not being allowed to help the players and throw them loose balls?    It speeds up the start of the match, saves players from bending over – some may have back problems – and is generally a completely innocent act.

   Of course, if Tindall had touched the ball to prevent the Wolves from rushing, that’s a different story, but the general rule that only one player can touch the ball just doesn’t make sense.

   Even the very fact that there is a weekly Ref Watch program on Sky Sports is part of the problem – it simply normalizes refereeing errors when there really shouldn’t be enough content to fill such a program every week.
