JUST IN :Journalist thinks £30m-rated star now regrets rejecting Nottingham Forest offer

Feyenoord striker Santiago Giménez is showing no signs of satisfaction at staying at the Dutch club after being turned down by Nottingham Forest this summer.

   That’s according to journalist Mikos Gouka, via Soccer News, who says the striker hasn’t quite hit his mark after the Nottingham Forest saga this summer.

   Giménez has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest all summer, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side clearly determined to land him.

   They made several big offers to convince Feyenoord and even sent a delegation to Holland to convince the Eredivisie side.

   Their efforts appeared to have succeeded, although Feyenoord continued to demand as high a fee as possible for their star striker.

   The Mexican has been the one to pull off any transfer but has shown reluctance to make the move, suggesting he is considering a move to a bigger club than Nottingham Forest after a couple of impressive seasons at Feyenoord.

   As a result, he ended up staying at the Dutch club and has started the season in fine form, with two goals and an assist in four league games so far.

   However, Gouka is not impressed and believes that the attacker is showing all the body language of someone who is not happy with his decision.

   “There are a number of seniors who are not showing it yet, with Santiago Giménez at the helm,” he said on the Algemeen Dagblad football podcast.

   “If you look at his performances honestly, you don’t see a striker you believe in: he stayed happy even though they (Nottingham Forest) wanted to pay €32 million. You see a striker you think: if only he would say yes to that offer.

   “The transfer window will haunt Feyenoord for some time. There are simply no replacements for many positions and there are players behind who may need a bit more time.

   “If you want to compete with PSV, you can’t wait six months for a player who is there. It has to be a player who stands behind a good player and then takes his steps. At Feyenoord, the players who need time are already playing.”
