🚨Paul Merson raises ‘huge problem’ at Everton as Leicester City scoreline predicted

Everton could face a season-defining problem if they lose to Leicester City this weekend, according to Paul Merson.

   The former Arsenal midfielder backed the Toffees’ 2-1 win on Saturday (September 21) for their first three points of the season but warned of the “huge” consequences of defeat.

   Sean Dyche’s side have lost all four of their Premier League games so far in the new campaign, including surrendering two 2-0 leads in back-to-back 3-2 defeats to Bournemouth and Aston Villa.

   Speaking to Sportskeeda [19.  September], Merson said: “A defeat against Villa won’t define Everton’s season – but if they end up losing to Leicester like they did to Bournemouth, it’s a big problem.

   “Everton have to win this game. They’ve got a couple of winning games coming up, so setting the tone is key.

   “I don’t think Leicester will be able to prevent Everton from winning here. In my opinion, there are no two options, there is only one winner in this match.”

   Everton ready for first win in Premier League?

   Only the fifth game of the Premier League season, it seems too early to call any game a ‘top six’, but given how poorly the Toffees have started, the showdown with Leicester will be just that.

   The Foxes are also winless so far in their return to the top flight, but two draws from four games have left them clear of the relegation zone – in which Dyche’s side are currently rooted to the bottom.

   With just-promoted Wolves, Ipswich and Southampton also making poor starts to the season, another win for the Blues would ease the pressure on everyone at Goodison Park.

   Although Merson was confident the Toffees could beat Leicester away from home, a fifth successive defeat could have dire consequences for Dyche’s position, regardless of what the club say [Sky Sports, September 18].

   Any semblance of a feel-good factor is non-existent at Goodison at the moment with uncertainty from top to bottom, but that could change if the Blues emerge victorious from this must-win game.
