‘Yes Of course’ – Michael Owen makes Everton joke after what he noticed in Leicester City game

Michael Owen and Jermain Defoe laughed off Everton’s failure to win another game despite taking the lead as they drew with Leicester City.

   The Toffees took the lead through Iliman Ndiaye, but Stephy Mavididi’s second-half strike ensured the game ended 1-1 at the King Power on September 21.

   Sean Dyche’s side led by two goals against Bournemouth and Aston Villa, but ended up losing both games.

   “They don’t stick to the lead, of course not,” Owen said on Premier League Productions’ Goal Rush show, after which he and Defoe shared a laugh.

   Everton need to start finishing games better

   Owens’ joke about the Toffees, despite coming from a place of rivalry between the clubs as a former Liverpool player, highlights a genuine and worrying trend on Dyche’s part.

   Their inability to secure wins from dominant positions, as seen in their recent draws and defeats since taking charge, points to deeper problems within the team.

   This pattern of not taking advantage of leads, exemplified by draws against Leicester and losing leads against Bournemouth and Aston Villa, is not only costing them points, but also creating doubts among fans and players.

   Such results could be disastrous in the competitive environment of the Premier League, where every point is crucial, especially in the fight against relegation.
