Everton and its loyal fan base have been victims of years of mismanagement under Farhad Moshiri, resulting in the steady decline of this great football institution.

   Once a mainstay of the English game, decades of on-pitch mediocrity have sent shares plummeting, with an Iranian businessman providing the final push to send them into oblivion.

   Since his takeover, financial collapse, PSR fines, mounting debts and outage problems have been common, especially in recent years.

   It is unlikely that any Evertonian will look back on his time with any fondness, but the legacy he leaves behind also has some extremely positive qualities.

   It’s impossible not to praise Farhad Moshiri for his work in bringing this about, even though he has been draining the club for years.

   And with this latest update from Alex Crook, who spoke live on talkSPORT yesterday (24/09, 16:45), it seems it’s not the only intelligent move of late.

   After all, his desperation was evident as John Textor seemingly pushed hard to win the takeover.

   This has spilled over into a series of interviews in which he has outlined his plans for the club despite not yet selling his shares in Crystal Palace, a major stumbling block.

   His little tirade proved to have a profound effect on Moshiri, who did not appreciate the fickle nature of this potential owner.

   Crook noted: ‘Well, it was John Textor who came out and gave that interview.    I think Moshiri failed.    This may have been another reason why they decided to go in another direction.”

   Dan Friedkin will win the race to take over Everton

   With Textor losing the battle against all his efforts, Dan Friedkin looks set to win the race to buy Everton.

   Another American, several billion dollars more than his compatriot and takeover rival, promises far more stability than Textor would offer, even though both already own alternative clubs in Europe.

   What will impress Evertons most about Friedkin is his penchant for solving financial problems, having wiped out Romo’s debts after the takeover was completed.

   Reports already suggest he will now do the same at Everton.

   Textor might be a viable option, but his ruthless and sometimes desperate nature would never sit well with the Evertonians or Moshiri.

   The latter, for all the mistakes he made, seems to have made the right decision in this regard.
