Gareth Bale has ranked and rated some of the best free-kick takers in Premier League history.
Bale was quite good at taking a free kick. The striker scored so many free-kicks from long range for Wales, combining power and accuracy from shots brilliantly.
Speaking to Mail Sport on TikTok, Bale rated some of the best free-kick takers in Premier League history and made an interesting claim about Nottingham Forest’s James Ward-Prowse.
Bale actually had Ward-Prowse as the best of the bunch, claiming he was actually better than David Beckham and Thierry Henry from the draft.
Gareth Bale claims that James Ward-Prowse
Bale praised the Nottingham Forest star.
“Gareth Bale or James Ward-Prowse?” Bale asked.
“I’d probably go to James Ward-Prowse to be honest with you,” Bale said.
“Ward-Prowse or Didier Drogba?”
“Ward-Prowse,” Bale replied.
“Ward-Prowse or Thierry Henry?”
“Ward-Prowse,” said Bale.
“James Ward-Prowse or David Beckham?”
“Actually, I’d probably pick James Ward-Prowse,” concluded Bale
James Ward-Prows’ free kick record
Bale says James Ward-Prowse is the best free-kick taker in Premier League history and it’s hard to argue with him.
Ward-Prowse has actually taken 17 free-kicks in the Premier League and is one step away from equaling David Beckham’s record of 18.
The debate does rage between Ward-Prowse and Beckham, but the Forest star is on course to break the former England captain’s record.
Of course, Ward-Prowse played more Premier League games than Beckham when Becks left for Real Madrid at the height of his powers, so that has to be taken into account.
Beckham still holds the record so he wears the crown for now, but if Ward-Prowse can manage to take some free kicks for Forest this season he will equal that record.
