REPORT :Manager adored by Marinakis delivers scathing attack on Nottingham Forest

Fulham beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 as their unbeaten run at the City Ground came to a halt.

   With three points taken away, the Reds failed to break into the top six and once again the main topic of conversation was the officials.

   Murillo was at fault for the penalty and Raul Jimenez scored his 50th Premier League goal to give Fulham a big win.

   Brian Laws felt the decision against Forest was a bit harsh, while Richard Keys shared his sympathies with Forest.

   Forest have failed to pick up another win since beating Liverpool, but it has to be said that it’s still a good start to the campaign for the Reds.

   Marco Silva scores against Forest after Fulham’s win

   After Steve Cooper was sacked in December, talk emerged that the dream appointment for Evangelos Marinakis would be Fulham boss Marco Silva.

   The Portuguese coach has won the league title with Olympiacos in the past and has a strong relationship with Marinakis.

   However, his comments after yesterday’s game appeared to strike a slight chord with Forest and he felt his Fulham side were comfortable.

   In his post-match press conference, he said: “I can’t remember a big chance for them (Forest). Just one in the first half, given by Awoniyi. Nothing special from Bernd Leno either, which shows how we kept our organisation.”

   Silva comments harshly, but Forest were poor

   Forest are known not to do well against Fulham and success has been few and far between in recent years.

   The only real chance of note came towards the end when Jota Silva tested Leno from distance, but it was a routine save from the keeper.

   Chris Wood had the ball over the line in the first half but the offside flag had already been raised to Forest’s disappointment.

   Awoniyi’s effort, mentioned by Silva, was more speculative, but replays showed it was closer than it might have appeared at the time in the stadium.

   But Silva’s comments may be a bit harsh given his side needed a fairly light penalty to win the competition.

   Well, Leno had nothing to spare, but neither did Matz Sels, to be brutally honest.

   Forest need to take this seriously and try to come back stronger next week at Chelsea.
