🚨JUST IN :Striker who nearly signed for Nottingham Forest is now outperforming Harry Kane

Nottingham Forest’s attempt to sign the striker has at times looked as dramatic as the finale of Line of Duty, with the club fighting tooth and nail for the new talisman.

   In the end, the search ended in vain, as Nuno Espirito Santo asked Evangelos Marinakis to save his money and not sign any contract because of it.

   Forest have Chris Wood and Taiwa Awoniyi as the two forwards in the first team – both have been called upon to start in attack for Forest against Fulham on Saturday.

   The effort lasted just 45 minutes with Awoniyi at the interval, but Wood has scored three goals so far this season and picked up where he left off in 2023/24.

   Santiago Gimenez has been a striker that Forest have targeted but has been turned down by the club no less than three times – if the papers are to be believed of course.

   Eddie Nketiah was also set to move to Forest but changed his mind after speaking to Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace and signed for the Eagles instead.

   There were other options on the shortlist for Forest, but in the end the Reds decided to attack the first half of the campaign with what they already have.

   The Nottingham Forest-linked forward has now surpassed Harry Kane

   With Gimenez and Nketiah off the radar, Forest turned their attention to Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush.

   The 25-year-old is a speed demon and Forest have been talking up a £28million deal for some time, although Frankfurt did not want to lose him.

   Now it’s pretty easy to see why Frankfurt convinced Marmoush to join Forest, with the striker taking his game to the next level.

   Marmoush scored twice and recorded two assists in Frankfurt’s 4-2 away win at Holstein Kiel yesterday.

   This takes him to six goals and five assists in all competitions for the 2024/25 campaign, and his valuation will rise to unattainable heights from Forest’s perspective.

   He now has more goals than Harry Kane as the Englishman has five goals and four assists for Bayern Munich this season.

   Marmoush would be a risky signing for Forest

   Even if he scores for a Bundesliga side, he can’t be said to do the same with Forest in the Premier League.

   The English Premier League is unforgiving and Marmoush will have some time to prove himself.

   That said, Forest have created chances in most games this season – Saturday’s defeat to Fulham being the exception – and that would help Marmoush.

   Signing him now looks like the perfect option as Frankfurt are likely to attract interest from European clubs much bigger than Forest in the future.

   However, one shooter will remain on the shortlist at the City Stadium and it will be interesting to see which names will appear next.
