Remo Freuler spent a full season with Nottingham Forest in 2022/23, joining the club after playing regularly in European competitions with Atalanta.
After leaving Nottingham Forest, Freuler is playing again in Europe this season with Bologna. He joined the team on the basis of the original loan, which was made permanent last season.
While Thiago Motta has left and things have been slow under Vincenzo Italiano, the situation for the midfielder looks much more promising than it was in England.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Swiss international spoke about his move to Bologna and how he feels about it.
He insisted he would make the same decision if he decided to swap Nottingham Forest for Bologna again.
“A fantastic group was created. Not only on the field, but also outside it, at dinner, for an aperitif with young and old.
“Here I learned this special cohesion and I am happy to be back in Italy and to have chosen Bologna. And I would do it again. Of course I would do it again.”
Freuler also spoke about playing in the Champions League this season, with the game against Liverpool this week.
“We are still a team that has that hunger and with the Champions League here, for example, I don’t want to stop seeing the joy in the eyes of not only my teammates but especially the fans.”
The 32-year-old has been a regular at Bologna since moving to the club, which is one of the reasons why he is glad to have moved away from Nottingham Forest, where he started to fall out of the picture.
