REPORT :MOTD pundit hails ‘outstanding’ Nottingham Forest player vs Chelsea, it’s not Sels

Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 with Chelsea on Sunday as Forest maintained their unbeaten record away from the City Ground.

   Forest played their part in a highly entertaining clash at Stamford Bridge, with the Reds effectively taking the lead in the contest.

   The Blues were stunning in action and only narrowly trailed, with Noni Madueke restoring parity for the in-form hosts.

   Forest had a number of top players during the competition, with Matz Sels receiving praise from his colleague Roberto Sanchez.

   The entire back four played quite well and Nikola Milenkovic canceled out his £12 million move with another excellent performance.

   It was a real team performance that ensured Forest got something for their efforts and in the end the team can be very proud of their effort.

   It was a very strong performance from Forest in west London and a point was the absolute least Nuna Espirito Santo’s side deserved.

   The game was ruined from a Forest perspective by an injury to Morgan Gibbs-White and the club now face an anxious wait for the announcement.

   Warnock singled out striker Chris Wood for praise and felt the Forest striker was brilliant once again.

   Speaking on matchday 2, he said: “They’ve got Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elango and Callum Hudson-Odoi, there’s pace in attack.

   “But I have to say Chris Wood is outstanding. Not just for his goals, but as a focal point he takes the pressure off the rest of the team.”

   Despite now being 33, the striker is scoring goals and giving Forest a bit of a conundrum when it comes to his contract.

   Wood’s current contract expires next summer and he may want to stay at the Premier League side.

   While it is inevitable that Forest will sign another striker in January or next summer, Wood is a player who has been in excellent form under Espirito Santo.

   He has now scored 16 League One goals since taking over at Forest, and that is not to be underestimated.

   The Premier League is a league where goals are hard to come by and Wood is probably playing the best football of his career right now.

   Wood is among the highest-paid players at the City Ground, but if he continues to score goals he will be worth his weight in gold for Forest, so a decision has to be made.
