Steve Cooper will be thankful Leicester City didn’t complete deal for winger, he has 0 goals so far

Steve Cooper will be glad he didn’t put pressure on one of his top transfer targets this summer.

   Leicester City have had a bit of a poor start to the season, but they will be hoping that a win against Bournemouth is a sign of things to come.

   The Foxes have struggled in several departments across the pitch, but one area that is really showing concern is the attacking front.

   To be fair, he’s been in solid form considering he’s in the prime of his career at 37, but Jordan Ayew has been far from a revelation since signing for fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace.

   Bobby De Cordova Reid is another who has featured very little in a Foxes shirt, but that strike has been dampened by the recent form of Facundo Buonanotte, who scored the winner against Bournemouth.

   Buonanotte was by no means the best choice for Leicester City this summer and they actually went on the hunt for an alternative Argentine winger which they will be glad didn’t materialise.

   Leicester City dodged Matias Soule’s transfer shot

   In the early stages of the summer transfer window following their promotion from the Championship, it was highlighted that the attacking ranks were somewhat depleted following the departure of Kelechi Iheanach, and matters worsened when Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall left Chelsea.

   Former Juventus winger Matias Soule has been touted as a potential big-money signing, with £25m thought to be a possible price tag for the Argentine.

   Although Leicester City were said to have agreed a fee for the striker, the deal was unable to materialize as the offer was matched by AS Roma, who Soule chose to move to instead.

   He has yet to find the back of the net since his arrival, and that’s from eight appearances that have yielded just two wins for the Italian giants in both Serie A and the Europa League.

   Leicester City got a better option with the signing of Facundo Buonanotte

   There was no doubt Buonanotte was an option after the Soule deal fell through as he favored a move to another Italian side, but Steve Cooper will feel like he got the better part of the deal this time around.

   Buonanotte certainly showed his qualities in the 1-0 win against Bournemouth and it was brilliant business to bring in a proven talent from the Premier League who has surprisingly failed to break into the current Brighton squad.

   There is great hope that Leicester City’s other forwards can start to follow suit, as Buonanotti cannot be relied on alone at the moment, but if Cooper has an out-of-form Soule on the right wing, it could be a case of the Foxes,  who sit here winless in the Premier League.
