Leicester City recorded their first win in the Premier League before the international break.

   A 1-0 win over Bournemouth thanks to a superb strike from Facundo Buonanotte gave Steve Cooper’s men their first three points of the season.

   Leicester are currently 15th in the Premier League table with six points, three clear of relegation-bottom Crystal Palace.

   It hasn’t been the best start to the campaign for Leicester, with fans calling for Cooper to be sacked, but victory over the Cherries could be the catalyst for further victories as they face Southampton, Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town.

   Cooper’s men have had no trouble finding goals this time around, netting nine from seven, but Jamie Vardy is the only scorer to score with two and it could be completely different if they sign the 2022 player.

   Leicester City wanted to sign Lois Openda in 2022

   Leicester were on the hunt for a new striker two seasons ago to salvage their Premier League status.

   This caught the attention of Belgian sniper Lois Openda, who shot for fun in the RC Lens.

   The Foxes first showed an interest in Openda in September 2022, according to Leicestershire Live, and the club are expected to open talks over a deal in January.

   However, the transfer never materialized as the outstanding striker jetted off to France as the winter window rolled around with Leicester fighting for their lives.

   Openda ended the 2022/23 campaign with an impressive 21 goals in Ligue 1. Leicester, on the other hand, were relegated to the Championship and Kelechi Iheanacho was their top scorer in the league with 5.

   At the time, it was reported that £26m would have been enough to prize the talented striker from France, but it was RB Leipzig who signed him for £36m in the summer of 2023.

   How much is Lois Openda worth now?

   Since moving to the Bundesliga side, Openda has transformed into one of the most “exciting” strikers in European football, reaching new heights with his crazy finishing.

   Last season, the 24-year-old finished among the Bundesliga’s top scorers with 24 goals, only behind Harry Kane and Serhou Guirassy.

   The flamboyant Belgian has since carried that rich run of form into the 2024/25 season with four out of six appearances following a flurry of interest during the top flight.

   Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea have all been eyeing moves for the forward, who the Mirror reports is valued at £75million.

   However, it is likely that Leipzig would be willing to shell out close to £100m if they were willing to listen to offers for the striker extraordinaire.

   For Leicester, it’s an example of what could be, as Openda could save them from relegation in 2022/23 and give them a big win.
