Chris Sutton makes prediction about Nottingham Forest which he was never expecting

Nottingham Forest have made a fairly solid start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign and currently have 10 points from their opening seven games.

   The current international break allowed Nun Espiritu Santo to review the first two months of the campaign and plan for the future.

   After the break, Forest face three of their next four games at home and this presents a great time to find a winning formula at home.

   Forest got some neutral results in their last outing – a 1-1 draw with a wild Chelsea side and that game featured a number of top players.

   Joe Hart felt Matz Sels’ efforts in goal earned Forest a point, while Ally McCoist declared how much he adores Chris Wood as a striker.

   Some pundits have already been forced to resign, with Richards and Shearer both guilty of belittling Forest’s comments before a ball was kicked this season.

   The landscape has changed when it comes to opinion of Forest and it now looks like a positive season could be in store.

   Chris Sutton predicts Nottingham Forest

   Sutton is actually a fan of Forest in the boys’ league and was very vocal in his praise of the team for their efforts recently.

   It’s clear he’s warming up to Espirito Santo, after some pretty harsh comments about him last season.

   Still, form has been poor at times in 2023/24 and Sutton – like others – was right to express concern about where the club was going.

   There are no such concerns this time around and Sutton has revealed where he believes the club could finish in the current campaign.

   Speaking on the It’s All Kicking Off podcast, he said: “He went there last season and wanted to make his mark on the team and it took.

   “This season there is a club that will not be relegated in any way.

   “Forest look like they could finish mid-table at the moment and I wouldn’t have thought that at the start of the season. They look like a club going in the right direction.”

   Forest need to show they can progress in the Premier League

   If Forest managed to manage an average home form, the club would really be laughing.

   Away from home, Forest have taken eight points from four games, which also includes visits to Liverpool, Brighton and Chelsea.

   It was more difficult at home with just two points from encounters with Bournemouth, Wolves and Fulham at the City Ground.

   Espirito Santo will be under no illusions that he has to continue this season, and winning football matches at home will probably be the key to that.

   A mid-table finish may be too ambitious, but the goal of becoming the best club in the bottom half seems – at this stage – like a realistic goal.
