Nottingham Forest are searching for a new social media manager – just days after being hit with a £750,000 fine following stunning online attack on VAR official

Nottingham Forest – fresh from being fined £750,000 for a shocking online attack on a VAR official – are advertising for a social media manager.

   The Premier League side received a hefty fine after sending off Stuart Attwell in a remarkable tackle following their 2-0 defeat at Everton.

   They claimed on their official X account that the VAR referee was a fan of Luton Town, who were also fighting for relegation after conceding no fewer than three penalties during their April game with the Toffees.

   Outraged by what they called an “unprecedented attack on the match referee’s integrity”, the Football Association handed Forest a punishment which the club has since described as “grossly disproportionate” and which it said it would appeal.

   In a scathing ruling handed down earlier this month, the panel also admonished the Forests for their conduct, with the independent panel finding there was “clear evidence of a lack of genuine remorse” and that Attwell was a clear “victim” of a “sick” chosen and  irresponsible workplace.

   After a potentially damaging loss at the time, they wrote: “Three extremely poor decisions – three missed penalties – which we simply cannot accept. 

   “We warned (referee) PGMOL before the game that the VAR was a Luton fan, but they did not replace him. Our patience was tested several times. The NFFC will now consider their options.” 

   Forest is now looking for a “Senior Social Media Manager” who will be “responsible for the overall delivery of highly engaging, trending content” and will oversee three staff. 

   Club insiders insist the timing of the advert is “entirely temporary” and is a role that has been in the works for some time.    The successful candidate will “seamlessly execute the club’s social media vision and content strategy” and “execute a comprehensive publishing strategy in line with the club’s overall content strategy”. 

   They will also have “deep knowledge of social media platforms, trends and best practices”. 

   Forest betrayed City X around five minutes into the final at Goodison Park, leaving the club a point above the relegation zone. 

   The Major Match Events Committee, which reviews decisions after each round of matches, ruled that Ashley Young’s challenge on Callum Hudson-Odoi should have been penalised.
